*Note: FDI statistics have many flaws. For example, they do not acknowledge country of origin, but the last destination investment came through. Also, they do not reflect promised investment, in which case China’s numbers would be higher: they would probably remain lower than those of the U.S. in Chile and Colombia, have a similar level in Peru, and perhaps surpass the U.S. in Ecuador.
